About Australian National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum celebrated Australia's association with the sea. Also known as ANMM, it is a maritime museum operated by the Australian Government located at Darling Harbour in Sydney. The ANMM exhibits everything related to Australia's history and the sea, including Australian Aboriginal maritime cultures, navigators, convicts, boat people, and the relation with commerce, sports and so on.

On the wharf outside the ANMM museum building are heritage ships the Krait (1920), the Carpentaria (1917), ex-Royal Australian Navy ships, an Oberon class submarine (1968), a Daring class destroyer (1956), an Attack class patrol boat (1968), a merchant ship James Craig (1874) and replicas of the Bounty and the Endeavour. Also on exhibit is Ken Warby's boat Spirit of Australia, which is the current holder of the world water speed record of 317.5696 mph. Even a flimsy Vietnamese refugee boat is on display.
