Dawes Point is a headland on the northeastern part of the Sydney Central Business District. It is the location of the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is contiguous with The Rocks.

 The original Aboriginal names for Dawes Point were Tar-ra and Tullagalla. It was first renamed Point Maskelyne, after Reverend Dr Nevil Maskelyne, the British astronomer who sent out the first astronomical instruments to Sydney. The instruments were installed at the point by Lieutenant William Dawes, the astronomer of the First Fleet. Interestingly, the point was later renamed in Dawes' honour.
